    An early view of Stykkishólmur. Norska húsið (Norwegian House), built in 1828, is the most prominent building. Carten Bache, a German, was the first merchant here around 1597. Stykkishólmur has a naturally good harbor. Around 1907 a pier was built to accomodate ocean vessels.
