     Vopnafjörður village August 14th 1881

SS Camoens outside Vopnafjörður harbor August 14th 1881. The ship should have been there in June to take 66 emigrants but was delayed by polar drift ice. The year had been extremely cold, as may be seen by the snow in the mountains. Usually there is no snow there during the summer.
The three sailing ships at anchor are foreign merchant vessels.
