Grimur Einarsson on Ship Passenger List Searching passenger lists is very difficult because they are not indexed. The only additional information the search might provide is the exact date and place of arrival and the names of other people who were traveling together. A search of microfilmed passenger lists (film C-4529) bound for Quebec City from Glasgow on the Allan Line in 1876 eventually reveals a record for the S.S. Phoenician which left Glasgow on July 19, 1876 with 391 Icelanders aboard and arrived in Quebec City on August 1, 1876. A clip from the passenger list is shown below. ![]() The bright part of the clip shows that Grimur Einarsson, his wife Gudrun, daughter Ingibjorg, and son Einar were on board. Also in the party was Hjalmar Arngrimsson (20) from Hroaldsstadir farm. Hjalmar appears to be unrelated to them. |
